TREASURY BILLS/BONDS
 
 

 

  1. Governments issue Treasury Bills to meet their short-term needs – usually a year or less.

  2. Treasury Bills and Bonds are very attractive because there is minimal default risk

  3. Investor buys Treasury Bills with a promise to be paid back at a specified time and a fixed interest.

  5. Difference between Treasury Bills (Notes) and Government Bonds is that Treasury Bills are for short-term financing of usually six months to a year. They also mature at a specified date. Government Bonds, on the other hand are for long term financing of 10 to 30 years. Their interest may be paid before maturity at six months, one year etc.

  3. As an exporter, you send goods to a foreign destination and you want payment assurance before sending them. This is where we come in.

  4. We source a reliable bank who stamps a Time Draft from the importer ACCEPTED and the bank is obligated to make good on the payment at a specified time.

  5. You as exporter can hold this Bankers Acceptance until the date, or you can sell it to a third party before maturity.

 

 

REPURCHASE AGREEMENTS (REPOS)


This is an easy way to get cash to meet your needs without really taking a loan.

  1. You sell a security or property with the agreement to repurchase it at specified date and price.

  2. You come back and repurchase your item at the agreed date and price. You default, we have the security or property.

  3. You get immediate cash to meet your urgent needs or emergency, whether for your business or personal needs.

 

COMMERCIAL PAPER
    • Commercial Paper is very similar to Treasury Bills / Bonds. The difference is that this is issued by well-known credit-worthy firms.

    • Like Treasury Bills, commercial paper is a short-term debt instrument.
